Asante Kotoko extended their remarkable form with a determined 2-0 victory over Bibiani GoldStars on Friday night at the Baba Yara Stadium in a Matchday 15 clash.
Captain Justice Blay opened the scoring in the 18th minute, calmly converting a penalty after Ndongani Samba Gilbani’s goal-bound header was blocked by a GoldStars defender’s hand.
The home side dominated proceedings, consistently keeping the visitors under pressure with relentless attacks.
GoldStars’ chances of a comeback were dealt a severe blow in the 36th minute when Bright Boakye Kyereh received a red card for a reckless tackle on Peter Amidu, leaving the visitors to play with 10 men.
In the second half, Kotoko maintained their dominance, and Kwame Opoku sealed the victory in the 74th minute with a stunning finish that showcased his poise and skill.
Opoku had earlier come close to scoring with a flying header just before halftime.
Samba Oniel’s exceptional performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
This win marks Kotoko’s fourth consecutive victory, emphasizing their growing momentum in the title race.
