Kwahu residents demand one farmer, one police man

The menace of Fulani herdsmen in Kwahu in the Eastern region have taken a dangerous dimension as residents now live in fear following intermittent onslaught against them by the aggressors.
Since last weekend, at least 10 people have been killed and others wounded as a result of gunshot wounds inflicted on them by the herdsmen.
The development has sent jittery among the farmers in towns like Dwibease, Dwerebeafe, Aboyan who have deserted their farm lands, already destroyed by the invaders to settle in Hweehwee in the Kwahu East district.
Some of the people who have deserted their villages in an interview with Light FM’s Obaa Akua Agyeiwaa Abankwa said they have abandoned their farms because of the Fulani herdsmen.
Just like government is implementing one district, one factory, the people are appealing for one farmer, one policeman to enable the go back to farms.
The distraught residents said they have lost interest in agriculture due to the wanton destruction of their farm lands by nomadic herdsmen.
“We don’t need police in our homes, we need on tem on their farms because that is where the Fulanis attack us” they bemoaned.
Currently, the farmers say they are counting their hope on the renewed drive by the security services to protect life and property in the area.
