Kwahu ‘Chief’ to lead Fulani ‘war’

-

A leader in the Kwahu Traditional area in the Eastern region has vowed to flash out Funlani herdsmen in the area.

Nana Abankwa Ansong II, who is a former Nkonguasofohene of Kwahu Pepease in the Kwahu East District, said the activities of the Fulanis are posing a severe security threat to inhabitants of the area.

His comment follows the killing of four indigenes and five Fulanis following separate reprisal attacks between Fulani herdsmen and some community members at Dwibease and Hweehwee communities, both in the Kwahu East district.

The situation has caused fear and panic in the area with residents fleeing from the town to nearby villages to stay with family and friends for the fear of being caught up in the attacks.

Those the police has intervened in the matter, it is yet to make arrest but the indigenes mostly farmers cannot visit their farms and undertake other activities for fear of being killed by the Fulani herdsmen.

But speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Monday, Nana Abankwa Ansong II said he will lead a mass attack on the nomadic herdsmen terrorizing residents in the area.

He described as unfortunate how the state and the police protect the ‘cattle than human beings’.

The chief indicated that, they as indigenes of Kwahu would not sit idle on their own land for aliens to kill them, rape their women, prevent their children from attending school and destroy their farms and source of drinking water while the government did nothing about it.

The former Nkonguasofohene expressed disappointment that the government, through MDCEs and the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), who only hold resolution meetings with them “but they lead nowhere; the Fulani herdsmen continue to make life unbearable for us”.

Nana Abankwa Ansong II urged the youth in the area to prepare for them to map up strategy to fight the’‘aliens’.
