The Kusaug Traditional Council has expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for his recent efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in Bawku.
In a press release signed by David Adoliba J., Secretary to the Overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area, the Council commended the IGP’s intervention, which they say helped prevent further escalation of violence in the area — an intervention they noted resulted in only one fatality and a few injuries, rather than a wider tragedy.
The Council described the IGP’s commitment to transparency and accountability as a step in the right direction, saying it aligns with the long-standing appeal by Zug-Raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II for lasting peace in Bawku.
They also emphasized the importance of dialogue and collaboration as the only path to resolving the conflict and urged the youth to stay away from violence and any acts that could destroy lives and property.
In addition, the Council appealed to the IGP to strengthen the Divisional Police Command by deploying more officers to help maintain calm in the area.
Calling for collective action, the Kusaug Traditional Council reiterated its readiness to cooperate with all stakeholders — including the security services — to ensure lasting peace and development in Kusaug.
