Kurt Okraku justifies need for management committees for national teams

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has defended the existence of management committees for the country’s national football teams.

In response to a petition from the Save Ghana Football Forum, which called for the dissolution of all management committees, Okraku explained the importance of these bodies while addressing Parliament’s Sports Select Committee on Monday, September 30.

The petition, submitted in February, had proposed reforms, including the removal of management committees for the various national teams.

However, Okraku emphasized that, the teams have specific needs that require specialized oversight.

“Currently, we have 20 national teams and each of the 20 national teams has specific needs and attention. It’s always important for us to find the right people, the right skill set with the right levels of passion who will help us to manage the national teams,” he said.

“If you’ve been part of the FA set-up, you would fully appreciate what it means to manage the national team. Management committee members are as relevant yesterday as they are today.”

GFA Vice President Mark Addo, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and other officials of the Football Association were all present.
