President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has been named the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The announcement was made by CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, during a press conference held in Accra on Saturday, April 26.
Okraku, who was elected unopposed to the CAF Executive Committee in March, continues his steady rise within the leadership ranks of African football.
His nomination by President Motsepe was officially endorsed by the CAF Executive Committee during its meeting in Accra.
Currently serving as President of the WAFU Zone B, Okraku steps into the role previously occupied by Ahmed Yahya.
He will serve alongside Morocco’s Faouzi Lekjaa, who has been appointed 1st Vice President, replacing Senegal FA President Augustine Senghor.
Other appointments include Gabon’s Pierre-Alain Mounguengui as 3rd Vice President, representing Central Africa and emphasizing CAF’s drive to fully integrate the region into mainstream continental football.
Mounguengui’s diplomatic skills and focus on grassroots development are expected to bolster CAF’s unity efforts.
In a historic move, DR Congo’s Bestine Kazadi Ditabala becomes the 4th Vice President, marking a significant step forward for gender equality and inclusion within CAF.
A lawyer and seasoned football administrator, Kazadi’s appointment reflects a broader commitment to diversity.
Mozambique’s Feizal Sidat has been named 5th Vice President. With extensive experience as the former President of the Mozambican Football Federation, Sidat’s leadership will strengthen Southern Africa’s voice within CAF.
Together, these appointments reflect a renewed vision for CAF — one rooted in unity, inclusivity, and regional balance, under the leadership of Dr. Motsepe.
