The Executive Secretary of Kuapa Kokoo, Nelson Adubofour, says they have introduced a Tele Agric Technology to help cocoa farming in the country.
The move, according to him, is to reduce the undue stress Ghanaian farmers go through on daily basis.
The move is also aimed at helping the continued development of the sector as government tries its best to revive cocoa farming.
Nelson Adubofour said Kuapa Kokoo is programming anything pertaining to cocoa farming on mobile phones that will be supplied to farmers and also teach them how to operate it.
The new system, according to him, will champion cocoa farming and make it lucrative for the youth.
The mobile phone innovation will allow for communication in local dialect to make interaction easy for farmers who need help from their agric extension and other officers.
Nelson Adubofour made this statement when the association organised an inter-tertiary institutions debate at the British Council where eight (8) universities debated on the motion: “ICT is the answer to achieving maximum growth in the cocoa sector in the wake of Ghana beyond Aid”.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of Kuapa Kokoo Nicholas Kojo Dzogbese has pleaded with government to invest some more in cocoa farming.
Some cocoa farmers who were present at the ceremony say they are grateful for the technology because it will increase productivity.
