The Eastern Regional Minister-Designate, Rita Akosua Awatey, has sought the support and blessings of chiefs in Krobo land ahead of her upcoming vetting.
Mrs. Awatey, accompanied by her entourage, visited the Manya Krobo Traditional Council, Okper, and the Yilo Krobo Traditional Council in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, where they were warmly welcomed with traditional songs, dances, and cheers.
His Royal Majesty Nene Sackitey II, Paramount Chief of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, expressed confidence in Awatey’s competence and pledged the full support of the traditional council. He assured that chiefs and queen mothers would attend the vetting in solidarity.
In her address, Mrs. Awatey promised to serve with humility and prioritize key challenges in the region.
Her outlined agenda includes improving infrastructure, addressing deplorable road conditions, tackling environmental concerns such as illegal mining, empowering the youth through job creation, and promoting gender equality to bridge economic disparities for women.
Her delegation included notable National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives from the Krobo bloc, such as David Tettey, Shirley Naana Ampem, and Hackman Kabore.
The chiefs’ endorsement is expected to bolster her nomination as she prepares to take on the mantle of leadership in the Eastern Region.
