President John Mahama has nominated 71 new District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to be voted on by Assembly members of their respective districts.
If approved, they will support the president in governance at the local level as he completes his second term.
The nominations were announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, and addressed to the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.
Meanwhile, the nomination for the Kpando District, which would have brought the total to 72, is still pending.
This follows the revocation of appointments for all Chief Executives of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) on January 8, 2025.
