Former Asante Kotoko player, Frimpong Manso has said Kotoko should not underrate Coton Sport in the return leg of the CAF Confederations Cup final playoff in Kumasi.
He believes what happened in Cameroon can happen in Ghana.
“The fact that you have won the first leg doesn’t mean you will win the second leg; it will not help the team if they think that way because the team they played with [Cotton] sport might not play the same way as they did at home [Cameroon]. It is possible they can also win in Ghana as Kotoko did at their home]. Now officiating also has improved so teams are capable of winning away.” He said.
Asante Kotoko produced a sensational performance to record a surprise 3-2 victory over Coton Sport in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup playoff in Cameroon on Sunday which the return leg is coming on in Kumasi this Sunday, but the former stalwart defender believes that Kotoko might see a different Coton Sport in Kumasi.
According to Frimpong Manso, the approach to such a game is very important and so C.K Akunnor should be very careful because Coton Sport can decide to go all out since they have nothing to lose.
“At this point, they know they have lost already so they will decide to attack with 3 or 4 strikers because they have nothing to lose; so Kotoko must sit down and look at the approach very well. As for the fans, they will think that for you to have been able to score three goals away, you can score six at home, Kotoko shouldn’t think like that in order to avoid pressure. It is about qualification and the number of goals you score.”
The former Kotoko Captain has advised that the supporters should know the caliber of players they are having now, some cannot cope with pressure so they must not determine which players should play and those to sit on the bench.
