The head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Steve Pollack, believes his team has the ‘character’ to defeat Club Athletic Renaissance Aiglon (CARA) in the second leg of the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup in Brazzaville.
He made this statement following Kotoko’s slim win over the Congolese club after squandering three penalties at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking in a post-match conference, Coach Pollack said “I’m satisfied with the results; it’s been a long time since we played like that and I feel the players played some good football. The intensity of our game was really good”.
“Therefore if we go away and we score a goal which I believe we will, per the quality of the players we have in our team”.
“Going out there is even better because they have to come all out now and try to score”.
“I hope at the end of 90 minutes we will be the better team”.
Asante Kotoko beat CARA Club of Congo 1-0 on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports in the first leg tie of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
In the game the referee awarded five spot kicks, Kotoko had four while CARA Club got one. The Porcupine Warriors missed three and scored one while CARA missed their kick.
The Brazzaville-based side, who are currently second in the Congolese top flight, will host Kotoko in the return leg on February 21 at the Stade Alphonse Massamba Debat.
