Kotoko not in a hurry to recruit new players

The Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko S/C, has vowed to be more meticulous in its player recruitment – to make sure it gets the best out of money spent.
“We are not in any rush to recruit new players because we have learnt many lessons from past experiences”, Mr. Obed Acheampong, the Communications Director, told journalists in Kumasi.
The technical team, he said, had made no secret of its desire to retain majority of the players recruited during the last season for continuity and consistency in the team building process.
“Kotoko recruited 14 players last season, and since some of them are yet to find their rhythm, the team has decided to give them space to make amends”, he added.
On player contracts, he indicated that there had been fruitful negotiations with the players, and that, many had agreed in principle to continue their career with the club.
He hinted of bringing one or two additional players to reinforce the team and said this was going to be based on the recommendation of the technical handlers.
Relatedly, two former Kotoko midfield players – Jordan Opoku and Larbi Coomson, are currently training with the club.
The GNA Sports gathered that the pair upon the recommendation of the Head Coach, Steve Polack, could be given contracts to feature for the club as the Porcupine Warriors readied for next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
