Greater Accra Circles Public Relations Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nii Darko, will face the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association.
His invitation follows comments he made concerning the incident at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Mr Darko had accused the FA boss, Kurt Okraku, of being the architect behind the shooting incident.
A Kotoko fan was injured after a police officer fired a rubber bullet into a rampaging crowd.
Reports say the fan who has been identified as Augustine Opoku is likely to lose his right eye.
Speaking to Kessben FM after the incident, Nii Darko said: “It looks as if they came in for a purpose.
“Some of us will be vindicated because we know that Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Okraku has something bad against Asante Kotoko. We said it right from the beginning when he came to office and we all witnessing it.
“We know where all these management members of the FA are coming from, we know their plans and everything they have in mind. They came to destroy Kotoko before we travel to Tarkwa on Wednesday,” he added.
However, a statement released by the Ghana FA said “the Ghana Football Association has referred a known supporters’ leader and Member of Asante Kotoko’s Greater Accra Supporters media team, Seth Nii Darko, to the Ethics Committee.
“The GFA received a complaint on alleged comments made by Mr. Seth Nii Darko before and after the Matchday Three game between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday 12th January, 2020.
“Mr. Darko allegedly made defamatory comments against the referee for the match of Mr. Charles Bulu and the President of the GFA, Mr. Kurt E.S Okraku.
“The GFA received an official complaint from Referee Charles Bulu on the alleged defamatory comments made by Mr. Darko in a news article published on 9th January, 2020.
“The GFA has also received a video recording in which Mr. Darko made allegations against the GFA President and the referee.
“The complaint has been submitted and supporting materials have been submitted to the Ethics Committee for investigation and adjudication.”
Asante Kotoko have been temporarily been banned from using the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
