In a significant step toward community empowerment, the Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) has launched the Bikpakpaanbe Atoor Anyobaank, a new initiative aimed at promoting collaboration, unity, and development among the Konkomba people.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Kpassa in the Nkwanta North District of the Oti Region, brought together youth leaders, chiefs, and key stakeholders with a shared commitment to addressing long-standing development challenges in Konkomba communities.
The core objective of the Bikpakpaanbe Atoor Anyobaank initiative is to tackle issues of underdevelopment through a focus on education, entrepreneurship, and social cohesion. The association aims to empower the youth to take active roles in driving progress in their respective communities.
Speaking at the event, leaders of the association stressed the need for unity and collective action. They urged young people to come together to find solutions to the socio-economic barriers that have stalled development.
Founder of the initiative, Jacob Tampin, in an interview with Adom News, highlighted the importance of engaging Konkombas in the diaspora. He noted that by leveraging their skills, resources, and networks, those living abroad can significantly contribute to the growth and transformation of their homeland.
“The diaspora has a crucial role to play. We need their support, experience, and investments to move our communities forward,” he stated.
The group father, Evans Kusopoal, expressed frustration with the slow pace of development. He cited challenges such as poor infrastructure, limited access to quality education, and inadequate healthcare services. He called for renewed commitment from both local and international stakeholders to invest in the region.
Former Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North, Joseph Kwaku Nayan, also graced the occasion and commended the association for its efforts in uniting the people. He encouraged members of the diaspora to invest back home, stressing that development is possible regardless of where one lives.
“This initiative is timely and necessary,” he said. “Many Konkombas have migrated in search of better opportunities, but it’s important they don’t forget where they came from. Their knowledge and resources are needed now more than ever.”
He called on all Konkombas to rally behind the initiative and work together to build a brighter future for their communities.
