Konkomba chiefs urged to prioritise peace for development

Former Oti Regional Minister, DSP (Rtd) Daniel Machator, has urged Konkomba chiefs to unite and prioritize peace to foster development within their communities.

Speaking during the final funeral rites of the late Nana Teki Tafutibor III, Konkomba headman of Bonakye-Asuogya in the Nkwanta South Municipality, he emphasized that unity is crucial for progress, especially in preventing conflicts that have historically hindered development.

Reflecting on the late Nana Teki’s legacy, DSP (Rtd) Machator called on the chiefs to embrace peace as a foundation for sustainable growth.

He noted that without stability, efforts to improve education, healthcare, and infrastructure would be futile.

He further stressed the importance of collaboration and mutual respect among the various factions in the municipality, urging chiefs to lead by example by fostering dialogue and understanding.

Speaking to Adom News, Ubor Boamah, the Konkomba headman at Kabiti, echoed similar sentiments, stating that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of division and strife. He encouraged the chiefs to cultivate a spirit of cooperation to promote economic growth and social cohesion.

Also at the funeral ceremony, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta South, Geoffrey Kini, called on the chiefs to set aside their differences and work together to address underlying tensions that have long fueled discord in the municipality.

He lamented that recent conflicts and tensions in Nkwanta South were slowing development, urging the chiefs to embrace dialogue and peaceful resolutions for the progress of their communities.
