The Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has honored Multimedia Journalist, Maxwell Kudekor for his outstanding contribution towards the development of the University.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor (Mrs.) Smile Dzisi presented him with a citation at a press soiree organized at the University.
“This Certificate is awarded to Maxwell Kudekor of Multimedia Group Ltd in recognition and appreciation of your significant contribution to the overall development of Koforidua Technical University (KTU),” the citation read.
Professor Smile Dzisi underscored the enormous contribution by Maxwell Kudekor and The Multimedia Group platforms in helping KTU become a preferred Technical University in the West Africa sub region.
She said the University presently has the finest technical programs tailored to solving everyday problems in the Ghana and Africa at large adding that the school continues to be a center for innovation and development and the driver of technological human resource of the country.
On his part, Maxwell Kudekor was grateful to the management of KTU for acknowledging his role in promoting technical, vocational, innovation and entrepreneurial education in the country.
He added that, he stands for development journalism and positive change.
Maxwell Kudekor said even though he is not working with an expectation of being honored by his audience or stakeholders, it is refreshing and motiving for one’s contribution or effort to be acknowledged.
“As the saying goes, a nation that doesn’t honor its heroes is not worth dying for. I am grateful for the appreciation and acknowledgement,” Maxwell Kudekor said.
Maxwell kudekor who double as Eastern Regional Secretary of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) called on tertiary institutions to offer Scholarship to journalists interested in studying Technology and Innovation related courses.
He said Technology is the driver of industry hence the Ghana’s vision of becoming an industry hub of Africa will partly depend on a well-informed media who will in effect ensure the checks and balance or whip leadership in the right direction.
“As Ghana prepares to become the industrial hub of Africa, it would be prudent to produce more journalists who are technologically inclined to champion the reforms in Technology and industry,” Kudekor noted.
He posited that in other jurisdictions there are journalists who have specialised in various fields and this enhances the promotion of such interests.
Kudekor said currently the GJA is collaborating with the Knutsford University in Accra to sponsored 50 journalists annually to pursue Masters programme in Leadership and Governance.
He called on other universities to emulate such laudable idea.
