Kofi Kinaata wasn’t treated fairly – Samini – AdomOnline

Reggae and Dancehall musician Samini has descended heavily on Charter House for not nominating the High-Grade record label artiste Kofi Kinaata to the “Artiste of the Year” category ahead of this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Rappers EL and Medikal bagged the highest nominations at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) announced last Friday at the exquisite Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

Musicians vying for this year’s Artiste of the Year award include EL, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, MzVee and Medikal.

According to Samini, if AMG Business act Medikal (born Samuel Adu Frimpong), the “Confirm” hitmaker was included in the list, why did they exclude Kofi Kinaata whose music is still getting massive airplay.

“I don’t know how Kofi Kinaata didn’t make it to the artist of the year. I will not even talk about myself. I presented my song mama Ghana for songwriter and something else but I am not even talking about it. If Medikal could make it to the artiste of the year, I think Kofi Kinaata wasn’t treated fairly…” he told Hitz FM.

However, when informed by host Kleff Maxwell Justice (KMJ) on Hitz FM’s morning show, ‘Daybreak Hit Wednesday’ about Charter house’s press releases indicating why some of the artists weren’t nominated for some categories, he said:

“The explanation would always come out but I think the people’s grievances’ should also be heard. I know they can’t edit the list since it’s already out but I am disappointed and I hope they get what they already hope for…”
