Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed his desire to see the Black Stars reach the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
Ghana bolstered its qualification hopes with two emphatic victories in the recent World Cup qualifiers, securing a 5-0 win over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium and a 3-0 triumph against Madagascar in Morocco.
These back-to-back wins have pushed the Black Stars to 15 points after six matches.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Adams stressed the importance of Ghana’s participation on the global stage.
“Ghana must play on the world stage next year. Indeed, we should be able to not just play; I wish that we play and even reach the finals,” he stated.
Ghana’s best-ever World Cup performance came in 2010 when the team reached the quarterfinals in South Africa, narrowly missing out on a historic semifinal spot.
The Black Stars will reconvene in June for a four-nation tournament in England before resuming their qualification campaign with crucial matches against Chad and Mali in September.
