Kofi Adams explains why he was appointed as Sports Minister

-

Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for Buem, believes his appointment as Minister for Sports and Recreation by President John Mahama reflects his unique leadership style.

Following the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) victory in the 2024 General Elections, Adams was confirmed as the new head of the Sports Ministry, succeeding Mustapha Ussif, who held the position under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

In an interview with Channel One TV, Adams expressed confidence that his balanced approach to leadership—combining firmness with empathy—was key to his selection.

“Why did he (President Mahama) give me the Sports Minister role? I am sure he was looking for someone with a blend of toughness and softness because this ministry requires that kind of tact,” he said.

“A ministry that must have a military mentality and operate with military precision requires both toughness and softness,” Adams added.

Since assuming office, Adams has engaged with various sports federations and actively monitored sporting activities across the country, as he settles into his new role.
