The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will reopen on Wednesday, November 14, Joy News has reported.
The re-opening follows the closure of the university last month following violent protests by students.
Students of the university were protesting what they described as the abuse meted to them by campus security.
This led to the dissolution of the university’s governing council much to the disapproval of members of the University Teachers Association (UTAG).
An interim council established by government to see to the resolution of issues at the university was rejected by the lecturers who felt disrespected over their non-inclusion on the new council.
The Asantehene, Oteumfuo Osei Tutu II – who is Chancellor of the university – has had to step in and as Luv FM’s Kwesi Debrah reports, the old council has been maintained.
This means all old members are intact, only a few new people have been added.
