Celebrated Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari has shared her insights on the kissing scenes often featured in films.
During an interview on TV3, she said these scenes are purely make-believe.
Nadia, who recently released the trailer for her upcoming movie with Majid Michel, explained that, the aim of actors during these scenes is to create an illusion of reality to engage the audience.
She clarified that, while the actors may appear to be genuinely kissing, it is only authentic for their characters and not for the performers themselves, as no real feelings are involved.
“They are not real. It is make-believe. We are trying to convince people, so we were really kissing, but it’s just that it’s real for the characters, not for the actors. There are no feelings involved,” she stated.
Nadia further noted that actors must remain detached from their emotions during these scenes, especially since they are often filmed multiple times in front of many crew members on set.
Despite her extensive experience with kissing scenes throughout her career, she revealed that she does not have a favourite co-star for on-screen kisses.
She also acknowledged that both the kissing scenes and character portrayal are among the most challenging aspects of acting in films.
