The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 37-year-old Nana Anderson, the leader in connection with multiple vehicle theft and rental fraud syndicate operating across multiple locations nationwide.
According to the Police, the suspect uses multiple aliases, including Nana Abeka, Essel Kofi Elvis, and Wilson Kojo Bismark.
In a statement, the Police confirmed that the suspect was apprehended on April 5 at his hideout in Atasemanso, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.Â
Preliminary investigations revealed that on 25 March, Anderson allegedly contacted a car rental partner of the complainant and fraudulently rented a Hyundai Elantra with registration number GT 114-25.
He also used forged ECOWAS identity and driver’s licence cards—bearing different names but his own photograph—to deceive the rental agent into handing over the vehicle at Community 25.
Anderson failed to return the car and disabled its tracking system, raising suspicions and further investigations uncovered his involvement in a broader criminal syndicate responsible for the theft of multiple vehicles between January and March 2025.
The statement indicated that the syndicate employed similar fraudulent methods to steal a Kia Forte at Haatso, a Honda Civic at Amasaman, and a Kia Ultima at Spintex, all within the Greater Accra Region.
According to the Police, Anderson admitted to receiving GH¢4,000 for each of the stolen vehicles.
Following his arrest, he led police officers to a residence in Millennium City, believed to be the hideout of Gideon Baah, also known as Nana but he was not found at the location.
Anderson has since been arraigned before the court, and investigations into the case are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Police have assured that efforts are underway to arrest Gideon Baah.
