Managers of the Kenyasi Prison Camp in the Ahafo Region have appealed to stakeholders for essential drugs to improve the healthcare of inmates.
During a visit by the MP-Elect for Asutifi North, Dr. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the situation came to light.
DSP Francis Kwasi Ansong, an officer at the camp, noted several challenges including inadequate supply of drugs which has negative impact on the well-being of inmates.
He added that the lack of medicine is creating serious health implication even for the officers who care for the inmates.
He called on stakeholders within the district to support the government in providing medications to the facility to ensure the health needs of inmates are adequately met.
In response, Dr. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo pledged to address the issue as soon as he assumes office, promising immediate support to improve conditions at the camp.
The appeal highlights the critical need for collaboration to enhance healthcare services within the nation’s correctional facilities.
