A 30-year-old kente weaver is standing trial at the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Raymond Seyram is said to have gone to the victim’s house under the pretext of buying pure water.
However as soon as the victim opened the door, Seyram allegedly pushed her onto the floor and forcibly slept with her.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement of a female under 16 in the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Agyin-Doku.
He is to reappear on July 31, 2017.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Sarah Acquah, told the court that the complainant was the victim’s father who lived in the same vicinity as the accused at Sowutuom in Accra.
She said on July 13, 2017 at about 10 p.m., he returned from town and decided to check on his daughter before going to bed.
ASP Acquah said when the complainant entered the room, he did not find his daughter but found Seyram and the victim in another room.
ASP Acquah said the complainant called his wife and a policewoman as witnesses.
She said when Seyram was asked what he was doing in the room with the victim, he could not give any explanation.
The prosecutor said the victim had blood stains on her dress and narrated her ordeal to her parents.
A police medical report has been issued for the victim to attend hospital.
