Ken Ofori-Atta will be declared wanted again if… – OSP

-

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has warned that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will be declared wanted again if he fails to appear for questioning on June 2, 2025.

The Special Prosecutor has emphasized that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s presence is “mandatorily required” on the agreed date.

This follows a lawsuit filed at the Accra High Court by Mr. Ofori-Atta against the OSP, stating that the declaration was unlawful and seeking compensation.

Additionally, the former minister is seeking a court injunction to prevent the OSP from reissuing the declaration, which he claims is baseless and unjustified.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, declared Mr. Ofori-Atta wanted on February 12, describing him as a fugitive and a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations.

Although the OSP removed Mr. Ofori-Atta from the wanted list on February 18, he stated in his suit that the actions had caused significant damage to his reputation and personal life.

Reacting to the suit, the OSP explained that his removal from the list was conditional upon his personal attendance at the designated time.

“Mr. Ofori-Atta formally requested the OSP to remove his name from the OSP’s list of wanted persons with the assurance that he would make himself available for questioning on a definite date,” the statement read in part.

The OSP added that if he fails to appear, it would issue an Interpol Red Notice and initiate extradition proceedings in any jurisdiction where he may be located.
