Ken Agyapong slams ‘disgraceful’ Delta Forces

-

Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has slammed the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) vigilante group, Delta Forces for storming the KMA court and releasing some of their members who had been remanded for assaulting the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator.

Members of the vigilante group affiliated to the NPP stormed the Kumasi Circuit Court Thursday and freed the members of their group who were facing charges for causing disturbances at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.

The group was said to have vandalized some court properties and almost assaulted the Judge, Mary Senkyire.

The judged had ruled that they be remanded to appear before court on the 20th of April, 2017.

The 13 were detained in connection with the group’s raiding of Regional Coordinating Council last week on March 24 where they were alleged to have assaulted the newly appointed Security Coordinator, Mr. George Adjei.

After the judge’s ruling, the members said they were not going to allow the judge’s ruling to stand and demanded that the 13 leave the court with them.

The judge was said to have stood in shock at the Delta Force’s behaviour and was on the verge of being brutalised up by the vigilante group before police intervened and ushered her to her chamber.

The police said they have arrested eight of the persons in connection with the court disturbances and declared the others fugitives.

This action of the group, Assin Central MP who is on record to have backed their previous action said has amounted to a disgrace to the party and the President and hence has condemned them.

“Truth be told, you can never justify an action like this….no one can defend them on this action, they didn’t do well at all…they have disgraced all of us” he said on Accra-based Oman FM.

He added that he has been forced to withdraw his support for the group because ‘he does not support nonsense’ adding that initially he supported them because he thought they were seeking to be employed by the Nana Addo administration adding that this action has come to demonstrate that they are not looking for law means of generating income.

“Initially, I supported them because I considered how they have suffered for the party to win power and how they were unemployed when their friends in the NDC were gainfully employed…,” he added.

According to him, he had negotiated for the boys to be employed at Cocobod but called on the organization ‘to cancel the negotiations to employ the boys as part of the youth for planting of food programme.’

He further appealed to the fugitive Delta Force members to surrender themselves up to the police before they are hunted down.

“I am appealing to them to come out of their hide outs and surrender and hand themselves over to the police so they face they punishment because I would never support such nonsense because you are not the only ones who suffered for the party.

“I was brought up in a home and I would never countenance on this and neither is Nan Addo as a law abiding person also happy, I have vowed to be behind you but I would never support such disgraceful act…,” he added.
