Kamaldeen Sulemana nears injury recovery – Southampton manager

-

Southampton manager, Russell Martin has confirmed that Kamaldeen Sulemana is close to returning to full fitness after sustaining an injury during preseason.

Sulemana was injured in a preseason match against Oxford United and was initially expected to be sidelined for about a month.

However, ahead of Southampton’s Premier League opener against Newcastle United on Saturday, August 17, at St. James’ Park, Martin provided an encouraging update on the Ghanaian winger’s recovery.

In addition to Sulemana, Martin also gave fitness updates on Adam Lallana and Ross Stewart as Southampton prepares for their return to the EPL.

“Kamaldeen is nearly fit, Ross Stewart is nearly back in contention, Adam Lallana is nearly back, so they’re in a really good place,” Martin said.

Sulemana joined Southampton during the January transfer window of the 2022-2023 season from French Ligue 1 side Rennes. In his debut Premier League season, he scored twice in 18 appearances.
