The Kadjebi District Assembly in the Oti Region has been urged to explore innovative ways to increase its internally generated funds (IGF) to support local development.
Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, made this call during his familiarization tour of the district, where he interacted with assembly staff and inspected ongoing projects aimed at improving residents’ living standards.
He emphasized the need for self-sufficiency, stressing that a strong IGF is crucial for financing essential services and infrastructure.
According to him, reliance on central government allocations can be limiting, and the assembly must effectively harness local resources.
“The Kadjebi Assembly has significant potential for revenue generation through agriculture and local businesses. Engaging stakeholders and the community in developing strategies to tap into these resources is key,” he stated.
During his visit, the minister also inspected ongoing projects, including the Agenda 111 hospital initiative, which he described as vital for improving healthcare in the district.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing these projects and praised the assembly for its role in supporting local development.
