The number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Ghana has increased to 19.
The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Aboagye, disclosed this on Joy News’ Newsfile on Saturday.
“Currently the number has increased from 16 to 19. Sometimes you don’t get the results as quickly as one would expect,” he said.
According to him, two were reported from Greater Accra Region and one from the Ashanti Region.
The carriers include a 55-year-old Ghanaian woman; resident of the United Kingdom who returned to Ghana within two weeks and a Ghanaian woman, 84, who is a resident of the United Kingdom but came back to Ghana within the past two weeks.

From the Ashanti Region, a 27-year-old Chinese male, who returned to Ghana two weeks ago also tested positive.
On Friday, March 20, the novel coronavirus cases in Ghana increased from 11 to 16.
Details from the Ghana Health Service’s website confirmed the latest development.
The five new cases were all recorded in the Greater Accra Region.
The latest update confirms fears community spreading has begun in Ghana.
According to the website, three of the patients have no travel history.
