Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo has raised concerns about how land litigation cases are handled in the courts, citing exploitation by some Judicial Service staff in managing land-related documents.
Justice Torkornoo highlighted a troubling trend where court staff manipulated land documents in favour of certain individuals in exchange for bribes, calling for an immediate end to this practice.
Speaking to Judicial Service staff in Cape Coast as part of the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Judicial Service Staff Association, she urged them to adopt high standards of public service and work to change the perception of corruption within the judiciary.
The Chief Justice also expressed alarm over the increasing involvement of some court staff in criminal activities, including the creation of fake divorce documents and fraudulent letters of administration used to deplete the accounts of deceased persons, depriving rightful beneficiaries of their inheritance.
She warned those involved in such actions to desist, as these practices contribute to delays in justice delivery.
