Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their unwavering support during Ghana’s recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

The senior national team secured back-to-back victories, thrashing Chad 5-0 before defeating Madagascar 3-0, boosting their chances of securing a spot at the tournament, which will be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

In an emotional open letter to fans, the Leicester City forward reassured Ghanaians of the team’s commitment to redemption following their failure to qualify for this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“On behalf of my colleagues, I’d like to extend our sincerest gratitude for your unwavering support during our recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar,” Ayew stated.

“Your infectious energy, passion, and loyalty inspire us, and we’re deeply honored to represent this great nation.

“Although we faced challenges in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, we’re committed to turning things around and making you proud.

“We’re working diligently to enhance our game, ensuring we secure the necessary results in the remaining matches to qualify for the World Cup.”

The Black Stars skipper also vowed to give everything to ensure Ghana’s return to the world stage.

“We’re not giving up! We’re focused on the task ahead, and we’re confident that together, we can achieve our goal.

“We’ll do everything in our power to make Ghana proud and bring joy to your hearts,” he added.

The Black Stars will regroup in June for a four-nation tournament before resuming their qualification campaign against Chad and Mali in September.
