John Mahama condemns NDC Kumasi shooting

Former President John Dramani Mahama has strongly condemned the shooting incident at the party office in the Ashanti Region that left one person dead and another seriously injured.

In a Post on his Facebook wall, the former president explained that it is “clearly a criminal act” and has thus called on the police and the relevant security agencies to investigate immediately and apprehend the culprits and subject them to the full rigours of the law.

His post reads “I have just been briefed about a shooting incident that occurred in front of the Ashanti Regional Office of the NDC leading to the death of one person and injury to another.

I strongly condemn this incident. It is clearly a criminal act, and I call on the police and relevant security agencies to investigate, immediately apprehend the culprits and subject them to the full rigours of the law”

His comments follow a shooting incident at the party’s office in the Ashanti regional capital that led to the death of one person.

“He shot him first in the leg while he runs and twice in the chest at close range as he lay vulnerable,” the eyewitness said.

Luv FM’s Erastus Donkor Asare reported that another man was shot but he survived and is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Meanwhile, General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said his party will not shield any criminal within the NDC.

According to him, the law will take its course and deal with anybody in connection with the violence.
