Ghanaian striker Jerry Afriyie has officially transferred from Thoughts FC to Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiya.
The 20-year-old has signed a contract with the club until 2028 and will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Spanish third-tier side CD Lugo.
Afriyie has been one of Ghana’s brightest young talents over the past year, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s gold medal victory at the African Games.
He scored the decisive goal in the final against Uganda, further cementing his reputation as a rising star.
In 2024, he gained significant recognition after being named Best Player at the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Togo, where Ghana finished as runners-up to Nigeria.
Afriyie also secured the tournament’s Golden Boot, scoring five goals in as many matches.
In a historic milestone, Afriyie became the first player from Ghana’s third-tier league to earn a call-up to the senior national team.
He debuted for the Black Stars during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in November 2024, marking the occasion with a goal in a narrow 2-1 loss to Niger.
The striker’s exceptional performances caught the attention of several clubs, but he ultimately chose Al Qadsiya, who currently sit third in the Saudi Professional League standings.
Afriyie’s loan spell at CD Lugo is expected to provide valuable international experience, preparing him for his debut with Al Qadsiya next season.
