Jayee University College hosts empowering youth seminar

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Jayee University College, in partnership with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Ghana HIV/AIDS Network (GHANET), recently held a seminar at the school’s premises on Friday 26th July 2024, as part of their SRC week celebration.

The seminar, titled” Empowering the Youth for a Brighter Future: Navigating Challenges and Building Resilience,” was attended by a large audience comprising students, invited guests, guest speakers, and alumni of the university.

Among the guest speakers were freelance sports journalist and ex-Kotoko Express editor, Jerome Otchere, Head of Human Resource Department for MASLOC Ghana, Patrick Ayittah, National GUPS President, Smith Dazie, and Women’s Commissioner for GUPS, Nana Yaa Adepa.

The speakers shared their insights on youth empowerment, the importance of self-belief, and the need for hard work and resilience in navigating challenges.

They also emphasized the role of social media in showcasing one’s capabilities and creating job opportunities.

Representatives from the Office of the Special Prosecutor educated the students on the dangers of corruption, its impact on the nation, and the penalties for those involved.

They encouraged the youth to volunteer as anti-corruption campaigners and report any corrupt practices.

The Ghana HIV/AIDS Network (GHANET) representatives also provided valuable information on the transmission and prevention of HIV/AIDS, and offered free HIV testing kits to the students.

SRC President, Evans Amewugah elaborated the importance of having this form of education every year aside the academic practices in their classrooms to boost confidence of students and also teach students real life after school and the importance of carrying your knowledge as power along in every organization they find themselves.

The event was sponsored by Palm Hills Natural Mineral Water and other partners, and the SRC week celebration continued until July 28th, 2024.
