James Gunu urges residents to brace themselves if water doesn’t flow by Saturday

-

Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has urged residents to prepare for continued water shortages if normal supply is not restored by Saturday.

“This is a very serious situation, and we are doing everything possible to assist residents, particularly by providing water through tankers,” Mr. Gunu explained.

“We have deployed a significant number of tankers from the district assemblies and the regional coordinating council, which have provided vital relief, especially to hospitals,” he said.

The tanker water distribution will continue throughout the week, with scheduled deliveries on Thursday and Friday, until the Ghana Water Company can resume normal supply.

Mr. Gunu expressed optimism that the company would stick to the timeline they’ve set for restoring services.

“We remain hopeful that the Ghana Water Company will fulfil their commitment to resuming supply by Saturday,” he said.

“However, if the supply is not restored by then, it will become increasingly difficult to manage the situation. We will need further support, and we must be prepared for any additional delays.”

He reassured residents that local authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

“I will be checking in with the Ghana Water Company again on Friday to ensure they are on track to meet their deadline,” he noted. “We remain hopeful, but we must stay prepared for any eventuality.”

As the region continues to deal with the water shortage, Mr. Gunu called for patience from residents while authorities work to resolve the issue and provide much-needed relief.

Ho Water Crisis: Cost of Expanding Water Pump Will Be About $52M

Meanwhile, the Volta Regional Minister has revealed that expanding Ho’s water supply system will cost approximately $52 million, according to estimates from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).

Speaking on PM Express on JoyNews, Mr. Gunu stressed the need for a long-term solution to the city’s water crisis. He stated that while the estimated cost is significant, the expansion must be designed to accommodate Ho’s rapidly growing population.
