Jah Lead apologises to JMJ over threat of assault

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste Jah Lead has retracted a statement he made about a month ago, in which he threatened to beat up music producer JMJ.

Speaking with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Jah Lead explained that his outburst was influenced by personal struggles, including the loss of someone close to him and marital issues.

When asked if he still stood by his earlier comments about assaulting JMJ, Jah Lead expressed regret and clarified his position.

“Honestly, JM is my brother. I love him. I would never assault him, to be honest. I never do that. I think emotions had gotten intense… I retract that statement I made. I’ll never assault him. I appreciate him for whatever we have got into. We can both continue with our lives,” he said.

On March 17, 2025, Jah Lead had threatened to assault JMJ over what he described as an unfair withholding of revenue from their collaborative song Lonely.

At the time, Jah Lead said:
“He should dare not think he’s older than me, coz he’s my age mate. That’s why I’ll talk to him like my age mate. I told him when the time comes I’ll meet him on the street, I’ll beat him mercilessly. I want people to talk about it coz I’ll face him like a man, I’ll beat him.”

The feud between Jah Lead and JMJ stemmed from a disagreement over a song featured on JMJ’s Riddim of the Gods project. Jah Lead accused JMJ of blocking the song on Audiomack despite it garnering more streams on his account, and further claimed the producer pitched the song to Boomplay and accepted payments without his consent.

Jah Lead’s apology and retraction now mark a possible end to the public feud between the two artistes.
