Ja Rule builds 6-unit classroom block for Nuaso Anglican Basic School

For years, students at Nuaso Anglican Basic School in the Eastern Region faced the challenge of inadequate classrooms, forcing them to adopt a shift system to accommodate everyone.

The school’s main classroom block had been destroyed by a heavy downpour, leaving students to learn in makeshift structures. However, this difficult chapter has finally come to an end, thanks to American rapper Ja Rule and the NGO Pencils of Promise.

Ja Rule, known for his hit songs like Always On Time, partnered with Pencils of Promise to rebuild the school’s classroom block, creating a safe and conducive learning environment for the students.

The shift system is now a thing of the past, ensuring that every child can receive an uninterrupted education without the burden of overcrowding or harsh weather conditions.

In his remarks about the project, Ja Rule emphasized that education is about more than just textbooks and classrooms. He believes that incorporating activities like sports and the arts is key to shaping the future of the students.

“This is not just about putting up buildings; it’s about creating opportunities. Education, sports, and the arts all go hand in hand in building a brighter future,” Ja Rule said.

While the project was met with excitement, it wasn’t without its challenges. Freeman Gobah, Country Director of Pencils of Promise, shared that the school’s challenging topography made construction difficult. Nevertheless, the team remained committed to completing the project.

For the students, the new classroom block is more than just walls and a roof—it represents hope and a fresh start. Many students expressed their joy and gratitude, knowing they now have a proper space to learn and grow.

While Ja Rule’s contribution to Ghanaian education is significant, his fans couldn’t help but wonder if he would be holding a concert in Ghana anytime soon. The rapper stayed tight-lipped but left the door open for possibilities.

With his promise delivered right on time, the students of Nuaso Anglican Basic School can now look forward to a future of uninterrupted learning. And who knows—Ja Rule might just return for an encore, this time on the big stage.
