I’ve elevated Ghana’s political discourse from sheer rhetoric to real issue-based civic discourse – Bawumia

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has said that he has successfully transformed Ghana’s political discourse by shifting it from superficial rhetoric to substantive, issue-based conversations.

Speaking at the Ghana CEO Presidential Gala held at the Movenpick Hotel on Thursday, November 7, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of addressing real issues through data-backed discussions rather than engaging in empty political rhetoric.

He noted that throughout his tenure in public office, particularly as Vice President, he has consistently focused on providing solutions to Ghana’s most pressing challenges.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted his commitment to presenting policies that are not only aspirational but also grounded in tangible data and evidence that can drive the country forward.

The NPP flagbearer stressed that political discourse in Ghana had long been dominated by vague promises and political posturing. He argued that his approach has brought a new level of accountability to political conversations, with a focus on real issues such as economic growth, infrastructure development, and job creation.

Dr. Bawumia concluded by asserting that this shift in focus is essential for Ghana’s development and progress, stating that only through informed, issue-centered discussions can the country advance.

He pledged to continue fostering this type of dialogue if given the opportunity to lead the nation as president.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, as a distinguished group of Ghanaians and CEOs, your contributions can elevate Ghana’s political discourse from sheer rhetoric and disingenuous manipulation of information to real issue-based civic discourse,” he remarked.

“This is what I have championed over the years—a focus on issue-based and data-backed public conversations. One such topic is how to reignite the business economy in Ghana,” the Vice President added.
