President Akufo-Addo has affirmed that his administration has fulfilled 80% of the promises made in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto.
Speaking during his tour of the Western North Region on Tuesday, November 5, the President highlighted the government’s achievements and expressed his commitment to continue delivering on his promises to Ghanaians.
While acknowledging that not every promise has been met, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that most of the goals outlined in the manifesto have been achieved.
He reassured the people of Western North that his administration remains dedicated to improving the country’s development, despite the challenges encountered along the way.
Addressing the government’s flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, President Akufo-Addo highlighted its significant impact on Ghanaian education.
Since its introduction in 2017, over 5.7 million students have benefited from the Free SHS programme, which has provided access to education for many who previously could not afford it. He underscored this achievement as one of the key successes of his administration.
The President concluded his remarks by expressing deep gratitude to the people of the Western North Region for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He acknowledged the importance of their backing in achieving his administration’s goals and pledged to continue working toward fulfilling the remaining commitments to the nation.
“I wouldn’t stand before you and say I have delivered on all my promises. That would not be truthful, but I can confidently say that I have achieved 80% of our manifesto promises. In the areas of education, health, road infrastructure, industrial transformation, agriculture, and cocoa, we have made substantial progress. Before I became President, every year, over 100,000 children, even those who passed the Junior High School level, were unable to continue to SHS due to their parents’ financial challenges.”
“So, in ten years, over 1,000,000 kids were unable to proceed in their educational transition. But today, because of the Free SHS, which started in 2017, the changes to our educational system are dramatic,” he touted.
