The Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has said manifesto of political parties should be more than just slogans.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, he noted that, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 manifesto focuses heavily on job creation.
“There’s no issue to litigate. Ghanaians are looking at the questions and the solutions presented by both the NPP and the NDC. Ghanaians do not have short memories. They remember Mahama and his delivery” he said.
He made it clear that the focus should be on substantive issues rather than mere slogans.
“It’s not all about Kukrudu and Eye Zu; it’s about issues” he noted.
The NPP officially launched its manifesto for the upcoming general elections on Sunday in Takoradi, Western Region. The event, held at the Ghana Secondary and Technical School (GSTS), energized party members nationwide ahead of the December 7, 2024, polls.
During the launch, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, emphasized his government’s commitment to strengthening businesses, particularly SMEs, to drive economic growth and job creation.
Reacting to the manifesto launch, the Minister said the NPP plans to establish an SME bank to support small businesses and online enterprises.
“We have created about 2.3 million jobs so far. The creation of digital jobs was never an idea of John Mahama.”
He mentioned that, the NPP is waiting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to present their manifesto.
“Even kids know who is behind digitalization,” Mr. Nkrumah remarked, suggesting that the debate should center on the merits of each party’s proposals.
