The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has explained the reason behind his hiatus following the party’s victory in the 2024 election.
Gyamfi, who played a prominent role in the NDC’s campaign, went off the media scene after the party secured a landslide victory on December 7.
According to him, the victory was not just a moment for celebration but a time for sober reflection and introspection regarding the enormity of the task that Ghanaians have placed upon them.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Gyamfi, who is currently the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), revealed that the NDC is fully aware of the responsibility entrusted to them.
“We had to take some time off and rest. We really cherish the mandate bestowed on us. It was not just a moment of celebration for some of us but a time for deep reflection,” Gyamfi said.
He further added, “We worked and campaigned effectively, but if someone had told me that President Mahama would win with a 1.7 million margin, I wouldn’t have believed it. As the President has said, we can’t afford to disappoint Ghanaians.”
Gyamfi also expressed his gratitude to President Mahama for the opportunity to serve in his government and pledged his commitment to help him succeed in fulfilling the promises made during the campaign.
