Veteran football administrator Nana Fitz has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the current state of the Ghana Premier League, criticizing it for what he describes as a lack of integrity and professionalism.
The country’s top-flight league has recently been plagued by issues such as match-fixing scandals, poor officiating, and incidents of hooliganism.
Adding to the woes of the ongoing 2024/25 season, the league currently lacks a headline sponsor and an official broadcast rights holder.
In an interview with Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Nana Fitz did not mince words about the dire situation, saying, “Let’s not talk about the league, it stinks.”
“The truth is, I do not have time to massage the truth when it comes to football. The league is not flourishing because of lack of integrity. The FA has failed us.”
“There is no league where administrators of the competition are allowed to participate by owning clubs,” he added.
Accra Lions FC has also voiced concerns about the deteriorating state of Ghanaian football, highlighting key challenges that threaten the future of the sport.
