It is clear the EC wants to fight the NDC – Former Deputy Organizer

-

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy National Organizer, Mahdi Gibril, has accused Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) of bias, the Commission is deliberately working against his party.

His comments follow the EC’s decision to broadcast the upcoming Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting live on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Mr Gibril said the EC’s announcement to livestream the meeting was not independent, as claimed, but was prompted by NDC’s pressure.

“Last week, they didn’t mention live coverage. It took Omane Boamah urging them to do so for transparency, and now they’re claiming it was their idea,” he said.

Mr Gibril claimed the EC is focusing its meeting on the provisional voter register for the 2024 general election, which he believes is the Commission’s desire to control the narrative of the meeting.

“It seems like some members of the EC have their own agenda for the meeting. Initially, the EC said the meeting was about the 2024 voter register, but now they have changed it to the provisional voter register just because it will be live-streamed.”

“We have requested them to televise the IPAC meeting, so they should also acknowledge political parties calling for transparency in the process. This is for the country’s benefit, not for anyone’s personal gain” he stated.
