American trumpeter, composer, bandleader and educator, Irvin Mayfield justified the mandate that was given to him to perform at the Ghana Music World Festival 2019, which took place at Trade Fair, Fantasy Dome, Accra.
Known for his hit songs such as New Orleans, Romeo and Juliet, Yesterday, The Denial, the musician did ‘If I Ruled the World’ the Trumpet Rendition which was originally performed by rapper Nas and singer Lauryn Hill.

Irvin Mayfield’s performances saw him share the stage with artistes from a variety of genres, including Quincy Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Doc Cheatham, Chucho Valdes, Nicholas Payton, Ellis Marsalis, Moses Hogan, Ani DiFranco, and Terence Blanchard.

Mayfield and Los Hombres Calientes earned an award from Billboard in 2000 for the group’s eponymous debut.
