The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana at an ongoing Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, has confirmed a claim made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the unauthorized transfer of some 2,094 voters.
The NDC had alleged that these voters had been transferred without appearing on the official absentee list, raising concerns about potential flaws in the voter management system.
But, the EC has acknowledged the discrepancy and stated that the issue had already been identified and rectified.
In their response, the commission assured all stakeholders that corrective measures have been put in place to address the irregularity, ensuring the integrity of the voter database.
This update comes amidst heightened scrutiny of the electoral process as political parties prepare for upcoming elections, with both the EC and political parties working together to ensure a transparent and fair election.
The NDC who are at the ongoing meeting is yet to make any comments on the EC’s admission and remedial action.
