Interior Ministry extends curfew imposed on Chereponi

The Ministry of the Interior has announced the extension of the curfew in Chereponi Township and its surrounding areas in the North East Region.

According to an Executive Instrument, the curfew will be enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., starting Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

This information was announced in a press release signed by the Minister of the Interior, Henry Quartey.

The statement called on chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to remain calm amid ongoing challenges.

The Minister also urged the community to seek peaceful solutions through non-violent means.

The statement further emphasized that a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons remains in place in Chereponi and its surrounding areas.

“Anyone found in possession of arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement warned.
