Interior Minister reviews curfew hours for Walewale and surrounding areas

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has announced a revision of the curfew hours for Walewale and surrounding communities in the North East Region.
Starting Monday, March 10, 2025, the new curfew will be enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
This decision follows recommendations from the North East Regional Security Council.
In a statement, the Minister urged Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, and youth in the affected areas to exercise restraint and adopt peaceful, non-violent approaches to resolving their concerns.
The Ministry also reaffirmed the total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the curfew zone, warning that violators will face arrest and prosecution.
Additionally, the Ministry called for calm and cooperation from residents as it prioritizes maintaining peace and security in the region.
