According to government statistician Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim, the inflation rate for October 2024 has slightly increased to 22.1%, up from 21.5% in September.
Speaking to the media in Accra on Wednesday, Prof. Annim explained that this uptick is due to rising food and non-food inflation.
The October inflation rate represents a 0.6 percentage point increase from the previous month’s year-on-year rate.
Breaking down the data, food inflation reached 22.8%, while non-food inflation rose to 21.5% in October, up from 20.9% in September.
Additionally, inflation for locally produced items climbed to 24.6% in October from 23.4% in September, whereas inflation for imported items declined slightly to 16.3% from 17.0%.
