Inauguration: Tinubu, Jacob Zuma, Kagame present; check out list of dignitaries

Today, January 7th, 2025, marks a historic moment in Ghana’s political history with the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama at Independence Square.

Mahama becomes the first incumbent to lose in a Fourth Republic election and later return to the presidency after a reelection loss.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance are Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who joins the celebration of Ghana’s peaceful transition of power.

Former South African President Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame are also present.

A total of 21 heads of state and former leaders, including current and past vice presidents, are in attendance of the ceremony to show solidarity and support for Ghana’s democratic process.

Former First Lady of the Fourth Republic, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, was also spotted at the event, alongside former President John Kufuor and former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who attended with his wife, Samira Bawumia, the immediate former Second Lady.

National Chief Imam, Sheik Osman Shaributu also present.

Yagbonwura Jira Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I and his entourage  arrived in Accra for the inauguration ceremony of his son.

Notable figures such as Nacee and Julius Debrah are also present, adding to the list of high-profile dignitaries gathered to witness this pivotal moment in Ghana’s democracy.

The ceremony was also graced by representatives from various international organizations and diplomatic missions.
