Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Vincent Sowah Odotei has described as strange the proposed $44million package as sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) by sports management firm Sports Cul.
The body on Tuesday announced a lucrative deal to sponsor the GPL, the Division One League, and the Women’s League in the country.
The package, which will, among other things, see at the end of every month each Premier League player earn GHS2000, while every Division One player gets GHS1000, and GHS5000 to GHS10,000 going to coaches, is strange, according to Mr. Odotei.
“I heard something about the deal a couple of weeks ago that there are some people who are going to put $44million into our game, but I’m yet to see the nitty-gritties and the details of the contract. But looking at it from the top of my head, I need to see the details to see really how it is structured and whether it will give us value for money, because frankly it is a bit strange to me,” he told Class Sports.
